Description
Bochnia is one of the oldest towns in Lesser Poland. The first mention of Bochnia in written sources comes from 1198 - the Patriarch of Jerusalem Aymar confirmed in a letter the donation of salt from Bochnia by knight Mikor Gryfita to the Holy Sepulchre monastery in Miechów. It was brewed salt, obtained from saline springs occurring in the area.
