Description
Łeba - promenade on Kościuszki Street
Łeba is located in the northern part of Lębork County, between the lakes of Łebsko and Sarbsko, at the mouth of the Łeba River to the Baltic Sea, in the woods of the Słowiński National Park and the Mierzeja Sarbska Reserve.
Łeba was granted town rights in 1357. Despite being a small town, it traded extensively with Hanseatic cities.
The development of railway and road communication initiated the tourist history of the town. Due to its scenic and natural values, Łeba became a favourite holiday destination of German celebrities and artists. It was not until the post-war years that the town started to develop intensively as a tourist destination. Since April 1945 until today Łeba has been a popular holiday resort and an important fishing centre.
